SWEEDHART – Separation of weeds during harvesting and
hygienisation to enhance crop productivity in the long term
Chaff has a big biomass potential which is unused so far. The mass of chaff during harvest is 2.3 t/ha. Respectively, it has a volume flow of 410 m²/h. Pelletized chaff with a heating value of 4.4 kWh/kg can provide an energy supply of 10.12 kWh/ha. The energetic use of chaff can contribute a part of a sustainable heat supply.
